Sesame Salmon

Today is Tuesday. And it is hot.

Its days like today where I normally default to having ice cream for dinner. (I mean, what? I NEVER DO THAT.)

But if you, unlike me, prefer actual dinner for dinner, then I have the most perfect summer recipe for you!

Sesame Salmon

Sesame salmon is fresh and refreshing. Sweet and savory. And it only cooks for 8 minutes.


Its incredibly simple and extremely delicious. And I suppose its a fairly adequate substitute for ice cream…

Sesame Salmon



1 1/2 pounds raw salmon

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 green onions, chopped


1/4 cup honey

1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

2 green onions, chopped

For the marinade: Line a baking sheet with non stick foil.

Add the olive oil, toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, pepper, sesame seeds, and green onions to a gallon size ziplock bag. Seal bag and toss to mix the ingredients together.

Place salmon in the ziplock bag, seal and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to broil. Remove salmon from marinade and place on lined baking sheet. Pour marinade over top. Broil for 5-8 minutes, until desired doneness. (I like mine more on the rare side…hello sushi!)

For the glaze: While the salmon is in the oven, in a small bowl, whisk together honey, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and same seeds. As soon as the salmon is done, pour glaze over top. Sprinkle with chopped green onions.
