Baked Turkey Burgers

My hubs and I live in a great little apartment. It has everything we could want or need in our lives right now and I. LOVE. IT.

However, there is one tiny little thing that I sometimes find myself wishing for…

The ability to grill outside.

We have an amazing balcony that looks out onto a peaceful creek and beautiful trees. But, grilling on an apartment balcony is a no-no. Completely frowned upon. Can’t imagine why…

(Que fire department sirens.)

And while, we have some neighbors that live on the wild side and still do it, I’m not gonna take my chances. I would totally be the one to catch something on fire because, well, I’m pretty much the opposite of a pyro.

So. What to do, what to do, when I just want a good ol’ home cooked burger? Grilling is out and cooking burgers on the stove top can be such a mess.

Well fret not, I found a solution!

Oven baked burgers.

They are seriously awesome. While nothing can replace that char-grilled, smokey flavor, these are an amazing, tender, juicy substitute. The burgers take five minutes to throw together, and then you pop them into the oven. No mess, no flipping, no fires.

Its a win-win-win, people.

serves 4-6

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 red onion, chopped small

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

salt & pepper

pepper jack cheese, shredded or sliced

*Buns, Mayo, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Pickles, Red Onion Slices

Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with non stick foil.

In a medium bowl, using your hands or a wooden spoon, mix together the ground turkey, onions, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce, and salt & pepper. Form mixture into 4-6 individual patties and place on lined baking sheet.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven and top with pepper jack cheese. Bake for 5 more minutes or until cheese has melted.

*Serve on buns with desired toppings.

Devour that deliciousness!

TINA’S TIP: For an extra kick, I like to add cooked, crumbled bacon on top of the burgers before I add the cheese. Then, let it all melt together! Mmmhmmm.

  1. These look great!!! I live in a building that has a grill I could use. I’m going to try these when I have the time. Probably in the oven as well, but maybe if I’m lucky I’ll have time to actually use the grill. Thanks for sharing!
