Honey honey honey honey honey honey honey honey honey honey honey honey.

Honey is the stuff my dreams are made of!  I love it.  It is one of my favorite things and it always has been.  I enjoy it in my tea, on a biscuit, swirled in oatmeal, dunked with a chicken nugget, on a spoon…I may actually have some sort of problem?

I first fell in love with this delectable nectar when I was a little girl and my mom used to buy the cute little honey bear!  I wanted to pour that bear on everything, and not much has changed.

About 10 years ago, I had my first Maryland Renaissance Festival adventure.  I love the Renn Fest for so many reasons, but what truly captured my heart was The Bee Folks shop.  This adorable little hut right in the middle of the festival sells all things honey and beeswax.  Not only this, but they offer honey tastings from over 30 different kinds of honey! All originating from different plants and flowers. (UH, YES PLEASE!) So, they give you a tiny spoon and squirt any kind of honey on it that you wish to taste.  How cool is that???  It is honestly what keeps me coming back every year.  I think I’m addicted to honey from a blueberry flower…

Sadly, this past year, I couldn’t make it to the Renn Fest, so my fabulous best friend surprised me with this:

HONEY DUST! Its literally dried honey crystals and it is ridiculous.  Lets just say, she knows me so, very well.

Ok, now that you semi understand my love affair with honey, I want to tell you about this pasta!  Garlic and honey.  The unsuspecting, but perfect blend of sweet and savory.  It is a mouth watering combination and a simple side dish that is sure to wake up your taste buds.  The thick linguine noodles soak up the rich flavors of the honey garlic butter, while the basil and thyme add balance and depth.  I usually pair this dish with coconut chicken or shrimp, but in all seriousness, I would be more than happy making a meal out of just the pasta.

serves 2

8 ounces linguine (1/2 regular box. I use whole wheat pasta.)

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup honey

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried thyme

salt & pepper

Cook pasta according to package directions. (Make sure you salt your pasta water when it reaches a boil!)

Meanwhile, in a microwave safe bowl, add the butter, honey, garlic, basil, and thyme.  Microwave for 30 seconds.  Stir mixture and add salt & pepper.

Drain pasta and return to the pot you cooked it in, leaving it off the heat.  Pour honey mixture over pasta, and toss until combined. Devour that deliciousness!

TINA’S TIP:  Top the pasta with an extra drizzle of honey if you’re feeling sweet. Of course, I am always feeling sweet!

  1. I just had to order some of the Honey Dust from The Bee Folks. I said I would “pick it up” at their Mt. Airy address. Realized they are closer to us than Mt. Airy on on Rt. 144, just past Watersville Road. Can’t wait to try this recipe with the honey dust. Do you still use 1/4 cup in the recipe?

  2. Hi Ma! That is so amazing that The Bee Folks are based out of Mt. Airy. I will need to get some more honey dust soon, too! I would not recommend using honey dust in this recipe, though. Just 1/4 cup of regular honey does the trick.
